The history of ITOCHU in Germany

January 1957

The Japanese ITOCHU Group lays the cornerstone for its German business by founding a subsidiary in Hamburg under the name C. Itoh & Co. Ltd.

February 1958

Düsseldorf becomes the new centre of activity, responsible for trade with machines, automobiles, steel products, paper, chemical and plastic products. The Hamburg location remains as a branch office for trade in textiles.

July 1966

C. Itoh & Co. Ltd. is reorganised as an independent subsidiary, C. Itoh & Co. GmbH.

1970s

The company develops a product range that remains the core of its business to this day.

January 1987

The company changes its name to C. Itoh Deutschland GmbH.

October 1992

The company gets its current name: ITOCHU Deutschland GmbH.

Today

The company deals in textiles (Hamburg), machines, and chemical and plastic products (Düsseldorf). It also holds shares in other companies. With 44 staff, it generates annual revenues of around 200 million euros.
